 2010 Chess Camp Schedule

  

Children are immersed in the magical world of chess during our camps.  Campers learn from our chess masters and professional teachers.  Their chess knowledge and skill will grow quickly.

June 14-18 2010: Hinsdale Chess Camp, at The Community House

Ages 6-14. Campers will receive master chess instruction from U.S. Chess Federation and World Chess Federation (FIDE) Masters, all of whom have vast experience in teaching chess to children. Our instructors will lead students through various activities, including tournaments, blitz chess, lectures, bughouse chess, and game analysis. The instructors will cover openings, endgames, tactics, and strategies. Games of the masters and the games of the campers will be analyzed. Campers will be placed in groups according to age and ability level. We will have physical activity, including soccer, everyday. Campers must bring a bag lunch daily. Please indicate t-shirt size and your ability level on the registration form. Camp is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Registration is available at the front desk of the Hinsdale Community House or on-line at www.thecommunityhouse.org .

June 21-25, 2010: Chicago Chess Masters Camp, at the Latin School

Ages 6-14. Campers will receive master chess instruction from U.S. Chess Federation and World Chess Federation (FIDE) Masters, all of whom have vast experience in teaching chess to children. Our instructors will lead students through various activities, including tournaments, blitz chess, lectures, bughouse chess, and game analysis. The instructors will cover openings, endgames, tactics, and strategies. Games of the masters and the games of the campers will be analyzed. Campers will be placed in groups according to age and ability level. We will visit the famous Lakefront chess pavilion everyday for blitz and bughouse chess. Campers must bring a bag lunch daily. Please indicate t-shirt size and your ability level on the registration form. Camp is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The camp fee is $375. Call 312-582-6080 to register.

June 28 - July 2, 2010: Grandmaster Chess Camp, at Lions Recreation Center,

411 South Maple Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056

Ages 6-14. Campers will receive master chess instruction from Grandmaster Nikola Mitkov, International master Jan van de Mortel. and the staff of Chess Education Partners. Our instructors will lead students through various activities, including tournaments, blitz chess, lectures, bughouse chess, and game analysis. The instructors will cover openings, endgames, tactics, and strategies. Campers will also play soccer, tennis and basketball. Campers will be placed in groups according to age and ability level.
